Installing other technology like solar panels is big project that will greatly help your home. Using solar panels you will help you to become less reliant on natural gas power.

You can also install a drip system in your garden. Many people water their garden by row, letting the entire row fill up with water rather than watering each plant individually. When you install a drip system you are making sure that each plant is watered and that you are not wasting water. You can also water at cooler times of day so that they water does not evaporate in the heat.

You could also install a system that caught all the grey water from your sinks and bath to use to water your lawn and plants. While this may not be enough to water you entire yard you are finding a way to reuse water.

See if there is a recycling program in your neighborhood. If there is not, see if anyone else is interested in starting one. Many companies will come and collect recycling for a fee. See if you can split the fee with your neighbors.
