Looking Forward To Fall and Winter Trends

As much as most of us love the onset of spring and the lovely, light, and airy clothes of the warmer months, nothing can compare to the rich textures and colors of fall and winter. This fall and winter look for dark merlots, burgundies, and cognac as the color spectrum moves toward the look of a rich men’s club. More trends:

Androgynous Dressing

If the colors of fall and winter are reminiscent of a tony men’s club, one could say that fashion design meets color in a synthesis that delivers finely tailored men’s wear to women. Makeup, including colorless lips, plus an upswept boy do makes the look complete.

Sophisticated Forties Dressing

Bob your hair and set in those sumptuous waves, the forties are back in all of their glory. Knifed pleats and crepe backed satin pair with flowing shirt sleeves and dots. Dots are coming and they are coming in large numbers.

Yellow Is a Must

Even if you cringe at the thought of wearing yellow, you can use it in your plans for accessorizing. Keep it away from your face and use it in skirt and pants. Shoes, bags, and bangles can all be yellow without posing the slightest threat to your complexion.

Fur Gets Bigger and Bolder

Fur has moved away from trim and bags and comes on strong in short jackets. Huge statements of faux fur cover long, flowing skirts.  And while you are thinking about animal hides, think about feathers, too. Feathers are big on the runway with hats and trims of exotic and colorful feathers.

Bold is Also Beautiful

Straight from your pool table, bold, billiard ball color comes to your closet.  Clean and crisp and bright, these colors add a touch of whimsy to the hard edge of styles coming our way this winter.

Keep an eye on what’s coming later this year. Big changes are afoot.
